North Central Piano Academy of San Antonio

" I found Ms Abney when I searched online, for piano lessons near my residence in San Antonio TX. She immediately agreed for a free lesson and I found her very inspiring and cooperative. She analyzes the student’s capability to learn and grasp and guides accordingly. She deals with adults and children differently. Many a time, she goes out of the way to keep one motivated while learning music. She is very techno-friendly and advises on apps that help a student build familiarity with music. Since she performs live on various occasions, she grooms her student in various aspects of music." PB-Adult student

"I would highly recommend her to anyone. She is extremely knowledgeable. Sharon is patient with small children while teaching them and also skilled at redirecting wandering attention spans at that level. Sharon reinforces the lesson material with various creative teaching methods. I am so impressed with her dedication and interest in her students. I would consider anyone fortunate to have her as their teacher." -- JW, parent from Stone Oak

"Sharon is a great piano teacher. She is patient with children and adapts her teaching method and content to suit the ability and temperament of the student. She not only taught our son how to read and play music, but also encouraged him to experiment with composition and he has now written three original pieces within a year of study with Sharon JZ, parent from San Antonio,TX

“As a 55 year old, busy, working adult, I really felt a connection and was very comfortable with Sharon the first time I met her and knew we would be a good match for piano lessons. Since I am doing this for myself as a hobby and am not on any timeline, she still challenges me, but lets me work at my own pace and is understanding of my busy schedule. I learn something new at every lesson, whether it is fingering position, theory, etc., and always leave feeling inspired. I would highly recommend Sharon for anyone who wants to learn piano at any age.”KB Adult student

> Sharon has been our son's piano teacher since he was five. During the past 3 years, she has used several different teaching methods. She has used level appropriate books as well as electronic apps. Our son has not always been the most motivated student. At these moments, Sharon's patience, professionalism and experience have shown brightly. She has had to be encouraging, and firm at times. Her own experiences as a student and professional has been integral to my son's education. She has also put on small recitals twice a year. These recitals are put on for elders of our community. Each student plays level appropriate songs. Recitals reinforce our son's desire to improve as well as giving back to our community.
> Our son can read music, play with and without a metronome. Our son enjoys piano so much, he has played for his class at school two to four times a month. He has impressed his class mates as well as his teachers. Due to this, I have had several parents ask me about piano lessons. I give them Sharon's card every time.
> Anyone with knowledge and education can teach music. However, not everyone can inspire love for music and piano. Sharon does this. It is evident in all of her students not just my son. I will not take my son to anyone else-. SE Parent San Antonio

"My 8 year old granddaughter has had such a good experience taking lessons this past year from Ms. Abney. She looks forward to going, and loves choosing and learning new songs, which makes her also enjoy practicing throughout the week! Ms. Abney adapts each lesson to the learning style of her students and teaches with kindness and enthusiasm. It has been such a joy to watch my granddaughter's progression and see her confidence grow as she masters each new skill."Gretchen Shary
